1^ST GRADE

4^TH GRADE

• Read, perform, and write quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests in 2/4 and 4/4 meter
• Perform moderately easy music in the key of G, F, and C major

• Create harmony by singing partner songs
• Create harmony by singing a two-part round
• Create harmony by adding ostinatos to a three part round
• Determine how harmony is made by studying notation

5^TH GRADE

I CAN….

• Play a variety of instruments independently and with other contrasting parts
• Identify and perform music in the key of G, C, and D major
• Identify and perform music in the key of a minor
• Read, perform, and write quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, and their corresponding rests
• Create a piece in call-and-response style
• Create harmony by using parallel thirds
• Identify instruments and country of origin by listening while matching pictures with music
• Compare different versions of a song
• Identify the individual instruments heard and compare overall tonal character of ensemble
• Create a piece for percussion instruments
• Analyze the melodic movement in 3 themes and identify the instruments that play each theme
