Kindergarten “I Can” Statements

READING

I CAN recognize all the upper and lower case letters.  This means I CAN say the correct name for each letter that my teacher shows to me.

 

I CAN make the sound for the following letters m, s, r, t, b, n, h, c, p, g, f, l, k, qu, d and z.  This means I CAN produce the correct sound when asked.

 

I CAN write the letter I hear at the beginning of a word.  This means I CAN write the letter I hear at the beginning of a word when it is given to me.

 

I CAN read all of the following sight words:

I, see, my, like, a, to, and, is, here, for, have.  This means I CAN read the word when it is shown to me.

 

I CAN read word family words from the following families:

-at, -an, -it, -ig.  This means I CAN read the word when it is shown to me. 

 

I CAN write the proper way.  This means I CAN write from left to right, and top to bottom. 

 

I CAN print my letters correctly.  This means I CAN print the capital and lower case letters s, m, r, t, b, n, h, c, p, g, f, l, k, qu, d, and z the proper way.

 

I CAN write my first and last name.  This means I CAN correctly write my first and last name with 1 capital letter at the beginning and the rest lower case letters.

 

MATH

I CAN recognize the numbers 0-20.  This means I CAN say the number when it is shown to me. 

 

I CAN print the numbers 0-20.  This means I CAN print numbers correctly when asked to. 

 

I CAN complete number sets 0-20.  This means I CAN count a number of items and circle the number I see. 

 

I CAN count to 75.  This means I CAN count 1 to 75 without skipping any numbers.

 

I CAN identify the penny, nickel, and dime.  This means I CAN correctly identify a coin when it is shown to me.

 

I CAN determine the value of a penny, nickel, and dime.  This means I CAN say what a coin is worth. 

 

I CAN identify calendar concepts.  This means I CAN say the days of the week, months of the year, and determine what yesterday was, today is , and tomorrow will be.  

 

I CAN recognize all my shapes.  This means I can identify what a circle, square, diamond, triangle, rectangle, star, heart, oval,

octagon, and trapezoid are when they are shown to me. 

 

I CAN create a graph.  This means I CAN use given data to complete a graph.

 

I CAN explain a graph.  This means I CAN explain the information on a graph.
