MATH

Unit Eight

I can compare and order fractions.

 

I can convert between mixed numbers and fractions.

 

I can identify fractions on a number line.

 

I can find equivalent fractions for any given fraction.

 

I can solve fraction number stories.

 

I can identify fractional parts of a set.

 

I can identify fractional parts of a region.

 

Unit Nine

I can multiply multi-digit numbers by 1- or 2-digit numbers.

 

I can interpret remainders in division problems.

 

I can solve extended multiplication facts to hundreds x hundreds.

 

Unit Ten

I can find the median in a set of data.

 

I can learn the units of measure for length, weight, and capacity.

 

I can master my multiplication/division facts.

 

I can make a bar graph.

 

I can find and name locations on a grid.

 

Writing
I Can use verbs correctly in a sentence.  This means that I can identify verbs in sentences and use the
correct form of them.

I Can write legibly in cursive writing.  This means that I can do my daily work in cursive and other people
can read it.

I Can spell high frequency words correctly in my daily writing.  This means that when I am writing in my
daily work, I am able to spell words that I've had on spelling tests  correctly in my writing.

I Can choose an animal I'd like to research from a list of given animals.  This means that when I'm given a
list of animals, I can select an animal that I would like to find out more about.

I Can gather information from different locations about my animal.  This means that once I have selected
my animal, I can use the classroom, the school library, the public library, and the computer to find
information about my animal.

I Can identify important information from sources and summarize the important findings.  This means that
when I'm reading articles and books about my animal, I will be able to take notes, organize them, and write
these notes in  my own words.

I Can write an animal report about the animal I researched using paragraphs, topic sentences, and supporting
details.  This means that I will be able to take notes about my animal and use them to write a report.  I will
have paragraphs, a topic sentence, and support my notes with details from articles I've read.

I Can make a poetry book with poems I've written.  This means that I will be able to make a book with a
collection of haiku, cinquain, and limericks that I have written.
Reading
I can identify fact and opinion in a selection details.
This means I can underline facts and opinions in non-fiction texts.

I can identify the topic, main idea and supporting details in a selection.
This means I can fill in a graphic organizer stating the topic, main idea and supporting details.  

I can use an encyclopedia to locate information.
This means I can fill in a graphic organizer with information about a topic from an encyclopedia.

I can compare and contrast details that are alike and different in a selection.  
This means I can fill in a Venn diagram and compare and contrast the events.  I can then write a
paragraph comparing and contrasting.

I can sequence story events.
This means I can retell a story in the correct order. 
 

Science

I can describe an objects position by locating it relative to another object or the background.
This means I can explore how changing the background makes it more/less difficult to report movement.
 

I can describe an objects motion by tracing and measuring it position over time.
This means I can practice measuring distance traveled as well as the distance from start to finish.
 

I can identify contact/no contact forces that affect motion of an object.

This means I can investigate forces such as push/pull, weight and friction.
