Teacher Appreciation Week
This month included teacher/staff appreciation week. If you have not already done so, please take a moment to thank one of our teachers or staff members. Our staff is constantly going above and beyond and is a big reason why Brunswick City Schools is such a great place. I’ve said it many times, but I am truly honored to be part of such a great team. Thanks for everything you do!
During the last regular board meeting, a resolution was approved for the district to begin the active planning process with the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program through the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC). What does this mean? This resolution allows the district to start looking at different options when it comes to our middle school buildings. Our middle schools are some of the most aged facilities in our district with the oldest being 95 years old! Additionally, all three middle schools are over capacity which was confirmed in the performance audit that was completed earlier this year. As we continue to add new opportunities for our students such as Project Lead the Way and technology courses, the need for additional learning spaces and better facilities increases. Participating in the Classroom Facilities Assistance Program gives the district the opportunity to take advantage of state money to create better facilities. We will be meeting with representatives from the OSFC to discuss what is available to Brunswick and details about the program.
We are officially only three weeks away from the end of the school year! The last month of school is busy but very exciting as it’s always filled with a lot of student recognition. We are extremely proud of what our students have accomplished and that can be seen through the various art shows, awards celebrations and performances that will fill the remaining weeks. As always don’t hesitate to contact the district if you have any questions or concerns. Go Big Blue!
