Dedicated to Excellence

A message from the Superintendent...

1:1 Technology

This month Brunswick will start the roll out of our one to one technology initiative. High school students will begin receiving their Chromebooks in October. The Chromebooks will be distributed much like a textbook, and students will be able to use them during school and at home. The dates for Chromebook distribution are: October 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 4 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and October 7 from 2:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Both the students and staff are excited about opportunities that come with this technology. As we move through the school year, we will expand our one to one initiative to middle school students and also into the elementary buildings.

PRIDE- Performance

Each year our students continue to amaze me with their achievements and performance. This year Brunswick High School had two National Merit Semifinalist: Rachel Miles and Raymond Liu and one National Merit Commended Student: Hannah Hasan. These students all achieved high scores out of the 1.5 million students that entered the program by taking the PSAT or the NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). As semifinalists, Rachel and Raymond are among the highest scoring students in Ohio, rank in the top one percent of students who took the test, and are in the running to become a finalist.

In addition, three members of our marching band were selected for the U.S. All-American Army Marching Band. Alex Hoerig (percussion), Jordyn Nuti (color guard) and Jessica Schieberl (color guard) were chosen to perform in the halftime performance of the All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on January 9, 2016. Only 125 students are selected from across the country. Our band director, Jay Wardeska, was one of 12 directors chosen to travel to San Antonio and work with Army musicians and participate in rehearsals.

I am proud of these students and their academic accomplishments. These students really represent and showcase our Brunswick PRIDE.

We continue to work hard at Brunswick City Schools to make our students successful and our community proud.
