Preliminary Information – June 2, 2004

v The Invitation – The Marching Blue Devils have been selected to perform in the 2004 Citrus Bowl Parade and an the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom for the New Year’s Eve “Mickey’s Merry Christmas Parade.”
v The Selection Process – The Marching Blue Devils were selected through an audition process. The evaluation included a resume of achievements, a video tape of competitive performances, and photographs of the band in performance.
v Dates of the Trip – Monday, December 27 through Sunday, January 2. We will depart at APPROXIMATELY 10:00 AM on Monday, and return to Brunswick at approximately 8:30 AM on Sunday.
v What Is the Cost of the Trip? The cost of the trip will be $650 per person. The fee is payable in scheduled installments. (Please see me the schedule below.) Students will have the opportunity to participate in fund raisers to cover this cost. This information is being distributed separately and organized through the band boosters. All monies are payable to the Brunswick Instrumental Music Boosters.
o Wednesday, June 2 - $25 deposit
o Thursday, June 24 - $75 payment
o Friday, September 3 - $200 payment
o Friday, October 8 - $200 payment
o Friday, November 5 - $150 payment
v What Will Be Included In Your Trip?
o The performance in the 2004 Citrus Bowl Parade
o The performance at the Magic Kingdom on New Year’s Eve
o A master class with Dr. Gary Green, Director of Bands at the University of Miami (Florida)
o 4 days of admission to Disney’s Theme parks to include the Disney-MGM Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the Magic Kingdom
o Attending Fantasmic at the Hollywood Hills Amphitheater
o Attending Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at EPCOT
o DisneyQuest
o Transportation via first class charter bus
o First-class hotel accommodations (hotel designation still pending)
o Hotel Security for students
o Five breakfasts, one boxed lunch and three complimentary meal certificates at Disney (includes 1 combo meal, 1 medium beverage, and 1 dessert for each certificate).
o Create-a-Video Package
o The Citrus Bowl committee will award each student with a commemorative parade pin and patch, a commemorative t-shirt, a group photo, and a video of the parade.
v How Can A Parent Be A Chaperone?
o There is a need for a limited number of chaperones to go on the trip.
o Interested parents should complete a chaperone application form.
o Chaperone applications must be returned with a $25 deposit to Mr. Wardeska at the high school by Tuesday, June 22.
o Chaperones will be chosen by a committee of school officials.
o The $25 deposit will be returned to parents who are not selected as chaperones.
o The $25 fee is payable to the Brunswick Instrumental Music Boosters.
v How Do We Go About Raising Money for the Trip?
o Numerous fundraising opportunities are available for students through the Band Boosters.
